Famed Egyptologist Comes To Dayton Thurs. Oct. 13

John Anthony West, renegade Egyptologist par excellence, will give a lecture on Thurs. Oct. 13 at 7:00 pm at the Masonic Temple, 525 W. Riverview Ave. across from the Dayton Art Institute . Tickets are $15 and available at the door.

John Anthony West was the instigator and star of the NBC documentary, "Mystery of the Sphinx" that aired in 1993. It was hosted by Charleton Heston and won an Emmy Award for Best Research.

The lecture is based on the controversial concept of the show, i.e. the water erosional features date the Sphinx 5 to 10 thousand years earlier than the conventional historical dates.

Robert Schoch, a geologist from Boston University, went on the record to confirm the erosional features and then everyone got very upset because of the implications. They all dismissed for lack of potsherds. But as Schoch pointed out, "That may be true but the rocks don't lie."

In Part II of the lecture, Mr. West will introduce the 'Symbolist' interpretation of Egypt -- which demonsrates a high sacred science where conventional scholars see mainly artistically accomplished superstition.

John Anthony West is today the leading authority and proponent of the 'Symbolist' school of Egyptology, an alternative interpretation of ancient Egyptian culture advanced by the French scholar and philosopher, R.A. Schwaller de Lubicz (1891-1962). In the Symbolist view, Egyptian architecture and art disclose a richer and more universal wisdom than conventional Egyptology has assumed.
