EG-UPDATE 17.0

November 20, 2007

Friends, grockles, Egyptophiles,

Announcing belatedly (because the ship is already nearly fully booked) the August 2007 FortScape Mediterranean Cruise and optional 7-day Egypt add-on. .

I will be a speaker on the cruise and of course will lead the optional Egypt trip that follows.

For those unfamiliar with Forteana? The FortScape, like the Annual Fortfest is held under the auspices of the Fortean Society. It commemorates and perpetuates the work and spirit of Charles Fort (d. 1932), iconoclast par excellence, curmudgeon and gadfly scholar/philosopher who devoted his life to researching anomalous phenomena contemporary science could not answer ? and then delighting in rubbing their collective noses in it.

Today?s Forteans carry on that noble tradition. As long as it can be backed up by something more than fantasy and/or pure speculation nothing is too outrageous for them

On the cruise, I?ll be giving several lectures, one of which will be EINSTEINS OF OLD: Modern Science ? Ancient Symbolism, introducing important but little-known work that has surfaced over just the last five years or so, demonstrating that the ancients (not just in Egypt but effectively everywhere) understood in detail, and expressed in myth and symbol what contemporary science is just now discovering, exploring and expressing mathematically? astrophysics, cosmology, the genesis and structure of matter, the fact and the importance of the precession of the equinoxes, and much else besides. (Other lecture subjects are still to be decided upon.)

FORTEAN events are invariably as lively as they are eclectic. While not everything on the program is for everybody, for everybody there is always something, often something special ? unusual, original, thought-provoking.

I hope to see at least some of you aboard. In the not-too-distant future there should also be further Eg-updates and much needed upgrades and additions to my website as well.

All the best,

John Anthony West

Cruise/Add-on Details from Fortean leader and organizer, Phyllis Benjamin,

Dear Fortean World Travelers and Ancient Wisdom Lovers-

Please check out the following Ancient Wisdom Fortean Conference Cruise with presentations from the incomparable John Anthony West, Alvin Holm, John Michell and other savants. A special one week, very affordable, add-on to Egypt with John West is offered at the end of this tour so do jump in for the travel experience of a lifetime. For those of you who have traveled with John before you know that each of his trips peels back more layers of the onion; he always has more information to impart.

I know that this message may seem a bit early and I was hoping to present this to you after the next cruise but our favorite itinerary is almost sold out for groups in 2007, so take a gander at the
following...and please note that while the deposit for the Med is always a bit large that no further payments are due until May:

Our next adventure is a brand-new Carnival itinerary on the glorious new ship Freedom on Aug 29th, 2007 for 12 nights to:
Rome, Naples (visit Pompeii, Capri and/or Positano), Rhodes, Ismir, Istanbul, Athens, Katakolon, Livorno (visit Florence, Tuscany and Pisa and/or Turin) and back to Rome. Plus 3 days at sea for a FortFest Conference!

Prices are as follows per person plus $279.99 tax...(do buddy up and save by going 3 and 4 to a cabin...to get the per person rate for a triple, for example in Category. 8A balcony add the first and second rate of $1950 and the third person rate of $750 for a total of $3650 and divide by three to get a per person rate of $1216.60...a quad would be $1100 per person).

Inside cabin, Category 4A: $1000 per person double
(3rd and 4th person rate is $650!)

Outside cabin, Category 6A: $1450 per person double
(3rd and 4th person rate is $680)

Balcony cabin, Category 8A: $1950 per person double

7 Day Symbolist Egypt Extension with John West-about $2600 (plus airfare from Rome), details to follow. $700 deposit ($500 refundable till May 11 2007)

Carnival does offer air round trip to Rome but we can get consolidator fares that are quite a bit cheaper.
Rome to Cairo air is also reasonable.

Deposit due to Carnival NOVEMBER 29: $700 per person no later than Nov. 29. $500 is refundable until May 11.
Final Payment due: May 11.

Do let us know if you can join us on this wonderful adventure!
